|amyhatch2001||01:12 am - Zoo concert|
Hey I was just wondering if anyone here is going to the Aug 11 or Aug 18 concert at the Toronto Zoo? I can't recall which day it is..
I would love to go, but I can't afford it now, and it would be hard for me to get there, but whoever goes, I hope you have a good time and take pics :)

|amyhatch2001||12:32 pm - Hello again :)|
I did go to the concert on Saturday, and Ron was awesome! It was the first time I had seen him live, and even though he only sang 4 songs, I still was in awe!
He did "Gold In Them Hills", "Not About To Lose" and I didn't know the first two that well, and their titles have sliped my mind..
It was still amazing, especially when the female singer, Esthro(?) brought out her 'special guest' and it was Sean Lennon! I had seen him outside of the concert hall, but didn't think that Sean would be in Toronto.. Wow, he was 5 feet in front of me!! That boy truly is part of musical royalty! lol She was really good too, I love the voice!
And Oscar Peterson was amazing too, dispute old age creeping up on him and suffering a stroke a few years ago, he still kicked some major butt! My bf had tears in his eyes when Oscar played one song he wrote for his wife, it was really sweet.. I love my bf :)
So after the show, my girl pal and I went to the back stage area in hopes of seeing Ron, but the people there believe he had already left :( It was getting late, so we decided to try and meet him next time.. Oh well
He does seem like someone interesting to meet and talk too :) So hopefully I get the chance to talk to him another time. That would be nice.
Bye for now.

|beauty_seeker||07:21 am - Just discovered this community|
I'm an ardent fan of Ron's, have been since Other Songs came out in the late 90s. Luckily he comes to Ottawa fairly often, so I get to enjoy his live performances regularly. His next visit is on May 23 at 2 pm as part of Ottawa's Tulip Festival. And then he returns on July 1.
I really enjoy all his music. The quality of his lyrics, his original melodies...are amazing. I've been fortunate to say hello to him a few times and he is very kind and actually very humble.
It's heartening to see more of his fans around. There's also a yahoo group that's been going strong for many years with 306 members: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/RonSexsmith/

|cecilbdemented||08:54 pm - Hello Everyone!|
I'm new to this community... I was just wanting to say hello and introduce myself.
My name is Steve, I'm 21 years old from Southern Ontario. I actually first met Ron before I had heard any of his music. My friend Colleen (from By Divine Right) introduced us. The first time I ever saw him was at the Niagara Grape and Wine festival a couple years back. It was interesting watching the show from underneath the stage with Colleen and his daughter.
Anyways, I figured I'd post a photo of me and Ron taken earlier this year... and I have really shaggy hair here. haha.
If this is against any community rules or anything, please dont hesitate to inform me :)
Thanks for the community... and I always welcome new friends if anyone wants to send me a message :)

|aradia13||09:24 am - monday nights at Cameron House|
Some friends of Ron's have a great gig going on right now (matter of fact he was *there* just this past monday...)
Every monday night in the backroom of Cameron House is a great new show called Largo North with fantastic Toronto musician/artist Kurt Swinghammer and his band (Dave Matheson of Moxy Fruvous, Maury Lafoy of local rockers The Supers and Mark Mariah, local drum god).
The shows are nice and early, 8:30pm-10:30pm and are wild amounts of fun. Special guests to be added upon occasion as well. This is a truly great room to experience music in. Cover is $7 or $15 with purchase of Kurt's brand-new cd Augusta.
Come out and support great local music!

Ron is on CBC TV tonight...here's a link. He opened for Diana Krall this summer at the MOntreal Jazz festival and it looks like this is where this show was taped.
Also I got this news today from his website email list...

So, I just discovered Ron Sexsmith on Saturday when my friend played the song, "Whatever it Takes". He has a wicked voice and I love that song.
So, yesterday, I'm up at that friend's trailer, and the guy from the trailer next door was like, "Ronnie just called, he's coming up!" Naturally, I'm confused. But then my friend says, "that's Ron Sexsmith, the guy who sings that song!" So I got all excited.
When he came, he came with his entire family. We all played volleyball together. He wore a t-shirt, his bathing suit, and dress shoes with out socks. Funnyest thing ever. We had SO much fun!
So, yeah, that's my story.
